Being a Happy Being
I still remember in my junior high school when a trainer asked me, “What is your goal in life?” and “What is your purpose?” Instantly, I said happiness. Happiness is the only thing that came across my mind. Because if I have everything but happiness, then what is the meaning? Happiness is the result of everything I have done and not done in my life. Happiness is the finish line.
Being happy is important to me, but is it also important for other people? Happiness for me can be different for other people. Happiness for me means being satisfied with my life. Being content and having no regrets in life, that’s what I call happiness.
Some researchers, like the psychologist, linked happiness to subjective well-being. In a journal of experimental psychology in “The Secret to Happiness: Feeling Good or Feeling Right” (2017), happiness is often defined as “a state of well-being and contentment” (Merriam-Webster, n.d.). It is perhaps one of the most salient human pursuits (Diener, Sapyta, & Suh, 1998).
While sometimes, what we have and what we do can make us happy, actually being happy doesn’t need a reason. Happiness is being grateful with your life, with everything you have, or everything that you don’t have. We can be sad and happy at the same time by changing our view with life and towards life.
We can say something bad happen when we have a standard of something good. Not that we cannot have a standard in life, but when we change our thinking process, actually everything bad can be good in a matter of second. Because happiness don’t have a standard, we make them by ourselves after we saw the world and other people.
But your happiness is always in your own hand and choice. No one can affect it if you don’t want to. Only you can make yourself happy. (LDS)

The key is to look into yourself. That’s where you will find the happiness waiting to be found.
